It is definitely a proven fact that each of us are completely different from one another. Actually we are so special and different that God has even given each of us a different set fingerprints. There is no one that is alive today, or will be, or ever has been that has the
same fingerprints as me or you. But also we know and understand that each of us have our own characteristics and natures. We may have some characteristics or natures in common with some others but for the most part we are unique in those also. So as a individual we are definitely individualistic in all aspects of our lives and being.
But with all of these differences and individualistic aspects of our lives there is one common thread that runs down through each and everyone of us that we have in common with all people. It is the same for each and everyone of us. The same with me that it is with you. The thread is the same texture and color and length and widths for each and
everyone of us. It runs through each of our lives from birth to death.
This thread is common to all that have been born of woman and this thread is the one thing that none of us can do anything about. It is the same for each of us regardless of whether we are rich or poor, male or female. It doesn't matter what country we are born in or what family we are born to. It doesn't matter what color, race or creed we are, we all have this thread in common.
The thread that we have in common is one day we were born of our parents and one day our life will end as we known it. The time spent in between being born and our lives ending can be termed the "journey of life". Each and everyone of us that are breathing are on this "journey" and each and everyone of us wants that journey to be both rewarding and joyful. We all have that in common.
We do not have control over whether or not we were born but each of us, to some degree, have control over the joy we experience through this journey of life and also the joy we experience at the end of life. You see each of us have the freedom to make choices but once we have made the choice that choice will control the chooser. In order to help us make the correct choices we have people that speak into our lives and try to direct us to make the choices that will bring joy to the chooser. In some cases we may have books that have been written in order to help direct the chooser. So in many cases we look at the results of others that they have received from the choices that they have made and then decide whether or not that is something that we want. So in many cases either we observe or hear or read what has resulted in someone's journey because of the choices they made and then we put our faith in the belief that the same results will come to us that occurred to them. We will only act upon the choices that we believe would bring us the measure of joy that we want in our life.
This can possibly result in several questions because our faith being put into action of choice will depend upon our acceptance of the authority of the one we are listening to. In other words if dad says it is true and this will bring you great joy would probably carry more weight with me than if someone in China, that I didn't know, would say
something. Some of the questions resulting from our intent of receiving joy in our journey of life may be;
1) Who is the authority that we should put our faith in?
2) What will bring us joy in the journey of life?
3) What is at the end of our journey of life?
We believe that the authority that should be in each of our lives is the words of God and the personal instruction that God give to each of our hearts. We believe that God has breathed His words and that they have been recorded in the Bible. We believe that the only truth is the truth of the words of God and that they are eternal, without error,
without interpretation, plenary and complete. But with that we also believe that God is the only one that has the complete meaning of His words. We believe that God is far too large to be put into any box and that His thoughts and ways are far above our thoughts and ways. We do believe that God works in each of us with the measure of knowledge we have. Because of that we love for others to speak into our lives about how God has worked in their lives and their understanding of Gods' words. We want to be blessed by the understanding others have of Gods' words and the only way we can do that is to allow them to speak into our lives and then allow God to deal with each of us in our measure of knowledge.
As we begin this book review we want it to be interactive and that all would participate actively. We are calling it a book review rather that a book study because a typical book study would be one that the teacher speaks and everyone else listens. Instead of that we are going to have a book review and the book we are going to review is the Bible. In the weeks to come we would want to take the words of God (the Bible) and apply it to this journey of life that we all are on and receive the joy that God has promised for so doing.
